Card Picnic is a place to share Anki cards you like. This page says what we collect, what's public, and how to remove it. Card Picnic is run by Idappaccayatā, LLC.
What the Anki add-on reads
The add-on looks only at notes carrying the share tag. For those, it sends the card's front, back, styling and the images or audio it uses. Before a card is published for the first time, the add-on shows it to you and you choose whether to publish it. Nothing else in your collection is read for upload: not your other cards, your decks, your review history or your statistics.
As a safeguard, the add-on and the site both refuse cards that appear to contain a Social Security number or a payment card number, and the add-on flags email addresses and phone numbers for a second look. These checks are not perfect. You are responsible for what you choose to share.
What we store
- Your email address, handle, display name and bio.
- The cards you shared, their media, and the note you wrote about each one.
- Who you follow, your reactions and comments, cards you saved, and people you blocked.
- Who invited you.
- A record of each Anki add-on you connected, so you can disconnect it.
- Reports you send about a card.
We don't keep your password, because there isn't one: you sign in with a link sent to your email.
Who can see what
Your profile, the cards you share, your notes on them, your reactions and your comments are visible to signed-in members, not to the public or to search engines. The front page shows a few example cards from one account chosen by Idappaccayatā, LLC; those cards, and only those, can be seen without signing in. Your handle and who invited you are shown on your profile. Your email address is never shown. Members can copy a shared card into their own Anki; once they have, removing the card here doesn't remove their copy.
We email you a sign-in link when you ask for one. If you opt in, we also send one email a week with popular cards. Every weekly email has a link that turns it off, and you can change it in Settings.
Cookies
We set one cookie to keep you signed in and, if you arrive through an invite link, one to remember the invite. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores its data.
- Resend delivers our email, so it sees your email address.
- jsDelivr serves the math-rendering library. When you view a card containing math, your browser fetches that file from them.
We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Cards other people share
Cards are written by members and can contain their own styling and scripts. Each card is shown inside a sandbox that keeps it from reading your account, your cookies, or the rest of the page, and from contacting other servers.
Removing your data
- A card: remove the
sharetag in Anki and sync, or hide it from its page here. - A comment or reaction: delete it where you left it.
- Everything: Settings → Delete account removes your profile, cards, media references, follows, reactions and comments.
Backups and caches may keep copies for a short time after deletion.
Children
Card Picnic is not for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to join.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on the site. Questions and requests about your data: hello@idappaccayata.com.
